Guide to Wearing a Men's Suit Well
You can spend money on the most expensive suit in the world, and if it does not match your style or fit your build, you will still look rather pitiful. On the other hand, the right choice will lift you to James Bond's level. Let Mon Amie help you do just that with the following 5 tips.

1. Stick to a classic style
So that your men's suit does not become hopelessly outdated after a year, choose colors that have been tried and proven. For solid-color suits, choose charcoal or navy blue.

They will help extend the life of your suit. For patterned suits, a deep gray will stay in style for ages. As for lapel size, never choose lapels that are too narrow or too broad. Mature men can choose slightly larger lapels, while younger guys suit smaller ones.

2. A well-fitting size
The mistakes most often made are buying a suit that is too loose or too tight. Follow these three rules:

a. The shoulders should hug your shoulders neatly rather than pinch them. If the shoulders fit, everything else can be adjusted.
b. To determine the jacket length, choose one so that you can touch the hem with your hand when your arm is extended straight down.
c. In general, with your arms straight, about 1 cm of shirt cuff should show. With French-cuff shirts, you can show more.

3. Understand the type of jacket
A two-button jacket is the most versatile and the easiest to match to any body shape. A three-button jacket suits made-to-order styles and a slimmer body shape. A jacket with chest buttons shows refinement and is most appropriate for solemn occasions because it looks best when fully buttoned. Two rules for buttons are
a. "Always, never" for a two-button jacket, meaning always fasten the top button and never fasten the bottom one.
b. "Sometimes, always, never" for a three-button jacket, meaning sometimes fasten the top button, always fasten the middle button and never fasten the bottom one

4. Choose your trousers
If you are not sure, choose slightly slim trousers with a hem that just touches the top of your shoes. This is especially helpful for men of modest height

5. And if you only plan to buy one suit in your whole life ...
... then you should buy a midnight navy suit. You can pair it with a white shirt and a black tie for a solemn look on occasions that call for it, such as a funeral, or pair it with a bright shirt, a refined tie and a boutonniere to attend a wedding. When going out, you can wear the jacket with jeans, or the suit trousers alone with an Oxford shirt and a tie. James Bond would be proud of you
