Business suit guide
The right suit for the work you do
A work suit is worn several days a week, through long meetings and humid Saigon afternoons. Getting the style, cloth and cut right from the start matters more than the price tag. Here is how Mon Amie stylists usually guide clients.
01
Dress for your workplace
Formal and understated
Finance, banking, law, public sector
- Navy, charcoal, fine pinstripes
- Single-breasted, two buttons, classic notch lapel
- White or pale blue shirt; plain or small-pattern tie
Professional yet approachable
Sales and client-facing roles
- Navy, mid-grey, deep blue; subtle checks work well
- Add an odd jacket with contrast trousers for lighter days
- The tie can come off with familiar clients
Presence and polish
Leadership, events, international partners
- Double-breasted, or a three-piece with waistcoat
- Peak lapels for a stronger shoulder line
- Finer cloth and darker shades for evenings and conferences
Smart casual, at ease
Creative, tech and start-ups
- A tailored blazer with chinos or contrast trousers
- Cotton or breathable open-weave wool
- Button-down shirt or a knitted polo
02
Suiting for Ho Chi Minh City's climate
The city is hot and humid all year, the rainy season is long, and offices run the air conditioning hard. A work suit here should:
- Use lightweight, breathable wool; blends are hard-wearing and easy to care for when worn often
- Consider Dolce & Taylor's collections designed for tropical climates, including a Water Proof line for the rainy months
- Lean on light and mid tones (light grey, blue, beige) for sunny days; save dark shades for important meetings and evenings
- Have a lighter or partial lining to keep the jacket cooler — your stylist will advise based on the cloth
- Come in twos: rotating suits gives the cloth a day's rest and makes each one last noticeably longer
03
Price tiers
The price of a made-to-measure suit depends mainly on the cloth. Three reference tiers for a two-piece (jacket and trousers):

Kevinlli cloths, 40–70% wool (100s–140s) — the entry to Mon Amie's signature fit, full two-piece
Signature
VND 10 – 20M
Kevinlli 80–100% wool 140s–150s, Dolce & Taylor, Luciano, Salford and Vercelli — our most chosen range
Heritage
Above VND 20M
Canonico, Holland Sherry, Dormeuil, Scabal — the pinnacle of Italian and English mills, up to 60M
- Three-piece (with waistcoat) from VND 6,000,000
- Separate blazer from VND 3,600,000
- Made-to-measure shirts from VND 850,000

04
Cloth: wool content and Super numbers
- More wool means a softer hand, better drape and more breathability; blends hold a crease and stand up to daily wear
- The Super number (100s, 120s, 150s…) describes how fine the yarn is: the higher it goes, the smoother and lighter the cloth — and the more care it needs. Super 110s–130s suits everyday office wear; 150s and above are for special occasions
- Salford khaki cotton works well for blazers and smart-casual trousers
- The Italian and English mills — Vitale Barberis Canonico, Holland & Sherry, Dormeuil, Scabal — are for a suit you mean to keep for years
05
Cut and style
- Single-breasted, two buttons: the safe choice for most builds and workplaces
- Double-breasted: formal and shoulder-building; suits taller frames and broader shoulders
- Three-piece: polished in air-conditioned meeting rooms — jacket off, still put together
- Notch lapels for everyday office wear; peak lapels for leadership roles and events
- Flat-front trousers look clean and modern; a single pleat is kinder on long days seated
- A tailored or a more relaxed classic line — our tailors adjust to your build and the way you move
06
Finishing touches
- Made-to-measure shirts from VND 850,000 — white and pale blue form the core of a work wardrobe
- Ties, pocket squares and cufflinks coordinated with the suit
- Belt and shoes in matching tones: black with charcoal and navy; brown with navy, light grey and beige
- Optional details: classic buttonhole, milanese buttonhole, pick stitching, metal button set, embroidered monogram, tuxedo finishing (satin-faced lapels, covered buttons, satin trouser stripe) — prices on the price list
07
A starter work wardrobe
- Suit one: plain navy — right for almost any meeting
- Suit two: charcoal or mid-grey, to rotate with the navy
- One odd jacket with contrast trousers for Fridays and informal meetings
- Four or five white and pale blue shirts; two or three plain or small-pattern ties
