About us · Since 1991

From the Hoàng Vy tailor shop to Mon Amie

It began in 1991 in District 5, in a small tailoring shop whose tailors came from Hue. Twenty years later the craft took the name Mon Amie — today it spans 5 showrooms, an in-house workshop and more than 50 skilled tailors.

01 · Our story

Three milestones, one craft

Mon Amie did not begin as a brand but as a tailor's shop. Before there was a name or a showroom, there was a cutting table, a tape measure and chalk lines on cloth.

  1. 1991

    The Hoàng Vy tailor shop

The Hoàng Vy tailor shop opens in District 5, Saigon. Tailors from Hue work the cutting table, making each suit to the client's own measurements — the foundation of the craft Mon Amie still keeps today.

  2. 2011

    Mon Amie is born

Hoàng Vy's tailoring takes on a new name: Mon Amie — French for “my friend” — alongside the title The King of Suit. As close as a friend, as composed as a king: that is how the house sets out to serve every gentleman.

  3. Today

5 showrooms in Ho Chi Minh City

Mon Amie now serves gentlemen at 5 showrooms, at home and through online consultations, with its own workshop at the 3/2 Street showroom; garments are delivered across Vietnam and shipped abroad. The company still carries its original name — Công ty TNHH Dịch vụ Thiết kế Thời trang Hoàng Vy — and corporate uniforms have their own home at maydongphuc.vn.

02 · Craftsmen

More than 50 skilled pairs of hands

The Mon Amie workroom brings together more than 50 skilled tailors with 10 to 25 years of experience, carrying on the craft that tailors from Hue began in 1991. Every suit passes through four main stages, usually with a single fitting along the way — or none, if you prefer — so it is refined on the person who will wear it.

  1. A tailor cutting grey cloth with large shears

    01

    Cutting

From your measurements, the cutter drafts an individual pattern, chalks it onto the cloth and cuts by hand, aligning stripes and checks so they meet at every seam.

  2. Pressing the interfacing into a jacket front

    02

    Construction

Construction gives a jacket its shape: interfacing is set into the fronts, lapels and shoulders, then pressed and moulded to follow the chest and shoulders. It sits hidden inside, yet it decides whether a jacket holds its line.

  3. A tailor sewing a navy jacket body

    03

    Sewing

The pieces are joined on specialist machines — body, shoulders, collar, sleeves and lining. After the fitting, the tailor reworks the seams to the points pinned on you.

  4. Sewing the Mon Amie label into a jacket

    04

    Finishing

Buttonholes, buttons, labels, final pressing and a check of every seam before the suit is hung ready for you. Hand details such as Milanese buttonholes or pick stitching are added at this stage when you choose them.

03 · Workshop & showrooms

A workshop inside the showroom

The Mon Amie workshop floor

Mon Amie's workshop sits within the 3/2 Street showroom (80–82–84 3/2 St., Hoa Hung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City). Cutting, construction, sewing and finishing all happen under one roof, so stylists and tailors discuss every order face to face — and when an adjustment is needed, your suit never has to travel far.

04 · Commitments

What Mon Amie commits to

These commitments apply to every made-to-measure suit from Mon Amie, at any of our showrooms.

01

3-year free warranty

Free 3-year warranty: adjustments if your weight changes by 3–5 kg, plus repairs for lifted interfacing, lost buttons and seam failures. After three years we still carry out repairs for a small fee. Not covered: improper care (washing or drying incorrectly), snags and tears, burns from flames or cigarettes, and fading from chemicals or sunlight — we will still help put things right as best we can.

02

Not right? 100% refund

If your suit is not well made or not in the style agreed, Mon Amie will adjust it until you are satisfied; if it still falls short, we refund 100% of what you paid.

03

Measurements kept for life

Mon Amie takes a full set of measurements on our own measurement sheet and keeps your profile on file for life for future orders.

04

Transparent listed prices

Listed prices exclude 8% VAT and are the same at all five showrooms; your final quote is confirmed by your stylist once measurements are taken and the cloth is chosen.

05

Ready in 3–10 days

A made-to-measure suit is finished in 3–10 days depending on your requirements (style, cloth and whether you want a fitting); when time is short, Mon Amie can complete a suit in as little as 24 hours.
