Many grooms feel they matter less than the bride simply because they lack confidence in the suit they wear. So a groom should know how to choose formal wear that makes up for the shortcomings of his body: a suit made especially for the big day, not just one similar to the suit worn to work.

Suits come in two main types: classic and modern

- Classic, in 2 kinds: double-breasted (2 overlapping fronts, deep neckline, large lapels and two rows of buttons); single-breasted (2 fronts that do not overlap, deep neckline, fastened with a single button).

- Modern: A single row of buttons, with 3 or more buttons. The neckline is cut very shallow and the lapels are small, giving a more relaxed and comfortable feel.

Notice and identify your body's weak points so you always choose correctly, stay up to date with the right tips, and wear a perfect suit that can camouflage them:

Short back: Wear trousers with a low waist sitting at the hips. Do not choose a high waist up to the belt line. Choose a jacket in a color that matches the belt to create the impression of a longer torso. Choose a suit color that matches the shirt and the trousers underneath to create a continuous line without breaks. Avoid contrasting colors because they divide you into several opposing blocks. Ask the tailor to add 1 or 2 cm to the trouser hem length. Trousers with turn-ups also make the lower half of the body look shorter.

Add 1 to 2 cm to the jacket hem as well to give the impression of a longer back. In this case, you can choose a pinstripe suit combined with plain trousers, but the ideal choice is still a long jacket (usually reaching mid-thigh), which looks balanced with a dark striped shirt underneath.

Long back: Wear high-waisted trousers sitting above the waist rather than low-rise trousers, and always tuck the shirt in. Choose a double-breasted jacket (two rows of buttons), because it draws attention to the upper body rather than to short legs. Wearing a wide belt (the fabric belts made for wedding attire) or suspenders is also a way to make the waist look higher. A waistcoat can also add height. Trousers without turn-ups make your legs look longer.

Flat seat: In general, stay away from baggy clothes. The jacket should be long enough to cover the seat, and a small vent at the hem will give the hips some presence.

Flat chest: You can make the chest look fuller by tailoring the suit in heavier-fiber fabrics such as cotton, tweed… Stay away from silk or chiffon. The suit should have shoulder pads and a double-breasted closure so the chest looks fuller and the silhouette stronger. You can also choose a single-breasted jacket with wide lapels and 2 vents.
