A style consultation is a one-on-one session between you and a Mon Amie consultant, usually lasting forty-five minutes to an hour. This article is not about style theory — it is about the appointment itself: what you prepare, what happens once you sit down, and what you leave with. A good consultation does not turn you into someone else; it brings you into sharper focus.
What a style consultation really is
At its core, it is a process of understanding yourself — your lifestyle, your build, your goals and your taste — in order to shape a dressing direction that is both fitting and consistent. The session revolves around four things: understanding you, defining your taste, guiding you through cloth and cut, and building your image.
One thing worth stating plainly: the consultation carries no obligation to commission anything. You are welcome to attend simply to understand yourself first, and decide later.
What to prepare before you come
The more specific your preparation, the deeper the session goes. Mon Amie suggests bringing, or thinking through, the following:
- The occasions you dress for: whether you need a suit for board meetings, client meetings, industry events, or your wedding day.
- The one piece you love most in your wardrobe: it tells the consultant more about your real taste than any description could.
- A piece you bought but rarely wear: the reason it "doesn't work" usually points precisely to what to avoid.
- The shoes you wear most often: shoes determine trouser length and the overall colour direction.
- Your upcoming schedule: if there is a specific event, the completion timeline is planned backwards from that date.
If you have photos of a style that catches your eye, bring them along. Images close the gap between what you have in mind and what the consultant understands.
The session unfolds in five steps
- Listening: the consultant asks about your goals, needs and way of life. At this stage, you do most of the talking.
- Analysis: reading your build, proportions, skin tone and hair colour to identify what genuinely suits you.
- Direction: proposing a core colour palette and silhouette, which becomes the axis for every choice that follows.
- Outfit suggestions: building specific combinations for specific occasions, rather than speaking in generalities.
- Planning: drawing up a priority list and a wardrobe-building roadmap, staged to suit your budget.
Throughout, a mood board sits on the table: colour cards, real fabric swatches for you to touch and examine under the light, and reference accessories such as belts, shoes and watches. Handling the cloth is a step no screen can replace.
What you take home
By the end of the appointment, you leave with three concrete things:
- A clearly named style direction, usually within the families of Power Executive, Smart Business, Timeless Classic, Relaxed Elegant or Modern Minimal.
- A priority list: what to commission first, what to add later, and what can wait.
- Your measurements kept on file for life at Mon Amie, so every future commission moves faster with no need to be measured again from scratch.
Our commitments during the consultation
Mon Amie holds to four principles: complete personalisation for each individual, genuine one-on-one advice rather than a shared script, absolute confidentiality of your information and measurements, and a long-term partnership rather than a relationship that ends after one transaction. The value we aim for is practical and lasting, not a single impressive purchase and nothing more.
As for cost, once your direction is set you can begin with a full made-to-measure suit from VND 4.8 million in our Kevinlli line, and move up to mills such as Canonico, Holland & Sherry, Dormeuil or Scabal once your wardrobe has its foundation.
A word from Mon Amie's artisans
We have found that most gentlemen arrive with one very honest question: how should I dress for the role I now hold? Once that question is answered, choosing cloth and cut becomes simple. That is why every Mon Amie consultation begins with a conversation about your work and your life, long before the fabric books are opened.
You can book an appointment at Mon Amie's five showrooms in Ho Chi Minh City — Nguyen Trai, Ho Van Hue, 3/2 Street, Caravelle Hotel District 1 and Nguyen Thi Thap — or call our hotline 0888.111.118 to choose the quietest time slot.
