Shipping, in tailoring, is the process of sending a finished garment from the workshop to the client safely, on time and intact. For a made-to-measure suit, delivery is never simply moving a parcel — it is the final stage that decides whether dozens of hours of cutting and sewing reach you in perfect condition. Mon Amie treats shipping as part of the product's quality, not an afterthought once the sewing is done.
The four pillars of proper shipping
According to Tailor Library poster No. 163, a genuine delivery process rests on four pillars:
- Correct packing: protecting the garment's shape and finish — shoulders supported, the body free of hard creases.
- On-time delivery: honouring the committed date for each order, particularly those tied to an event such as a wedding or an awards evening.
- Worldwide delivery: supporting clients in many countries professionally, from documentation to the choice of international carrier.
- Absolute safety: controls that ensure the garment reaches you in the best possible condition.
Fine wool from mills such as Canonico or Dormeuil recovers from creasing to a degree, but if it is compressed and folded incorrectly across several days in transit, the fronts and the chest canvas can hold marks that are difficult to correct. How a garment is packed matters a great deal.
The value of arriving safely
A garment that reaches you properly delivers four things. First, it protects the work: the shape, the cloth and the finish survive the whole demanding production process intact. Second, it builds trust: you can be confident the order has been handled professionally from start to finish. Third, it completes the experience: the impression of the house is sustained right through to the moment of opening — the thank-you card, the tissue, the seal all belong to that moment. And finally, it reflects the standard of service: the last detail is where fine service distinguishes itself, preventing transit risk and demonstrating Mon Amie's commitment to the very end.
Who shipping serves
Mon Amie's delivery service appears in four common situations:
- Clients at a distance: delivery to other provinces or countries, with no need to return to the showroom.
- International delivery: support with documentation and swift, secure cross-border transport.
- Online orders: online commissions packed to the same standard as those collected in the showroom.
- VIP service: priority packing, dedicated care and tracking for special orders.
Mon Amie's six-step shipping process
Every suit leaving the Mon Amie workshop passes through six steps:
- Inspection: a final check of quality and finish before packing — seams, buttons, lining, the lie of the lapel.
- Packing: a fine garment bag, protective tissue and a rigid box to safeguard the shape.
- Sealing: a secure seal ensuring the garment remains untouched throughout the journey.
- Transport: a reputable carrier, with the journey tracked continuously.
- Delivery: handed to you on the agreed date, at the agreed address.
- Aftercare: follow-up after delivery and support whenever needed — including alteration cover should you try the garment on and wish to refine it further.

A word from Mon Amie's artisans
A tailor sees packing as the suit's final seam. A good experience does not end at the showroom door — it is only complete when the garment reaches the client properly, its shape and press intact, with the same care applied to the last minute as to the first. That is why, at Mon Amie, the person packing the box works as carefully as the person cutting the cloth.
